Can I Kick It?

Yesterday I finally realized it. After sitting at a restaurant, discovering that they would only play the same two songs over and over again. After watching TV, hearing somebody having to address her favorite musician as “some guy named Prince” to a group of kids, and after turning on the radio, only to get my eardrums violated by somebody thinking he’s Big Meech. No, hip hop is not dead. But it sure could use some life support and a friendly push in the right direction. And while I’ve been sittin around waiting for Dilla to resurrect and D’Angelo to finish up his album, I haven’t had a thought of doin something about it my damn self.

But yesterday I started thinking. We’re in need of music more than ever. But we obviously won’t find it on the radio, on TV or in the clubs. And that’s why I’m starting this blog. I’m starting a place where you will find music again. On Hearing Every Rhyme you’ll find new hip hop and neo soul, as well as throw back tracks, samplings and album reviews.

So, relax yaself, please settle down and get your ipods ready. I’m here to stay. And so is hip hop.
